Unfortunately, there is no easy way to do this like I thought there would be. From looking at the rigging tutorial series by Autodesk on their YT channel, it seems that you will have to mirror the geometry, and then mirror the joints. See the video here, for more information. The part that would be useful to you would be from 5 min onward, as the first 5 minutes are just explaining why other methods are insufficient...
