775 cpus

i am working on a dell motherboard  with 8mb ram and the dell website says it supports a 2mb cache cpu

i also have a 4mb cache cpu wich is better  and i am thinking of upgradeing it

will the 4mb cache work or will the mother board restrict it and only use 2mb

should i 

stay with the 2mb cpu?

as long as it is 775 will i get 4mb cache if i use the other?
