Okay so I'm looking into building my first pc and getting 2, maybe 3 monitors. I'm gonna play on my PC of course, but also on my PS4 with my friends. I was wondering if playing on a 1440p monitor with a PS4 creates any problems like adding black borders or creates ghosting (from what I've read online). Is it better to buy one 1440p and 1080p display, buy 2 1440p displays, or 2 1080p displays? thanks.

Personally I would get all the exact same display, whatever you decide to go with.  As for the PS4, I don't know how many things it can even run at 1080p so to take whatever it is outputting and stretch it up to 1440p probably won't be any worse than it already looked at 1080p

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

for PC gaming it depends on what exactly you want to game on it and what kind of PC will you have

generally if you're not playing FPS and have a good GPU then 1440p would be recommended

for console either will do there will be no ghosting or lagging, only potential problem would be interpolation when playing 1080p games but that shouldn't be a problem because there are a ton of 900p or all kinds of weird resolutions on "next-gen" consoles that would cause interpolation on 1080p screen as well and when playing console you probably won't be close enough to notice it

also for consoles 1440p would be better because they usually have bigger screen which is great for console

Yeah as for lag, the lag will actually be much better (much less) on the monitor than it ever was on a TV, so you'll get a nice boost there :)

I main 1440P monitors on my PC (one of them has been returned awaiting replacement so technically I'm down to single monitor now) and was given a PS4 for Christmas shortly after it came out.

The PS4 looks fine on a 1440 P monitor, all other things considered. However why would you? It seems to run most of the games I've played on it at under 1080P, and with heavily shifting framerates. I rarely use it, except to watch Blurays.

It obviously doesn't look as sharp on a 1440 P native screen as opposed to a 1080 P native model but it's not like Destiny or w.e you play will suddenly change to look like Minecraft.

I'd get 1440P monitors for my PC and not use the PS4 at all (which is essentially is what happens) if it were me.
