Computer posts, but doesn't display anything

Go to solution Solved by Omon_Ra,

Did you try using different display outputs on the discrete GPU? Different cables? Since it worked on the integrated GPU, it sounds like it's a dead GPU. The GPU fans could still work while the card itself is borked. Try another PCI device in the slot to remove that from the equation, or a different PCI slot.

My friend's computer randomly stopped working the other day, I went over to fix it and tried to turn it on, It would start and the fans turned on but there was no display output and when I went to turn it off, when I pressed the power button the PC instantly turned off. I removed the graphics card and plugged the monitor directly into the MOBO and the computer turned on and logged into windows. I was wondering if the problem was a dead gpu or a bad PCIE slot. When the gpu was still in the system the fans spun on it when it would turn on.
