hd7990 issue

So, ive sent my 980ti to rma, so i have to use my 7990 instead.

 

right at the start, i see that the gpu isnt detected, i cant monitor anything of the gpu.

 

 

What can be the issue?

Lack of drivers?

 

You said the GPU isn't detected but aren't you plugging a video cable from it to a monitor?

Yes i am, there is video output, but the gpu is somehow only detected as a VGA unit, and not the exact Name of the card, i cannot monitor anything from the card. Running AMD's auto detecter of driver, it tells that i have the latest Crimson driver, and all should be fine.

Have you installed the GPUs pcie power?

Reseat, test.

Reset bios, test.

Remove gpu and test with iGPU and if that works

Test with different GPU

Test HD7990 on a different computer.

the gpu is getting all the power it needs, reseating is tried, i wont begin to reset bios or anything.

You may have different results but that is what I got from my HD 6470M in my laptop. Could be worth a shot.

The card is working but only showing as a standard VGA device. PCI-e is fine mate.

reinstalling the drivers worked, thank you so much, now i can monitor that the card is sitting at about 55 degrees celcius at idle :D
