GTX 970 Backplate

Hi I have a question about the backplate for the EVGA GTX 970 cards. There seem to be backplate models corresponding to the different EVGA models. For example, there is a FTW backplate, SSC backplate, SC backplate...etc. Are they all different and you are required to purchase the same one for your card? The FTW plate is a good 10 CAD more than an SC backplate. Are there any differences that would prevent you from mounting one on the other? Thanks.

I believe the FTW just has straight heatpipes and the SSC and SC are just OCed

Hi I have a question about the backplate for the EVGA GTX 970 cards. There seem to be backplate models corresponding to the different EVGA models. For example, there is a FTW backplate, SSC backplate, SC backplate...etc. Are they all different and you are required to purchase the same one for your card? The FTW plate is a good 10 CAD more than an SC backplate. Are there any differences that would prevent you from mounting one on the other? Thanks.

 

Hole placement, and other placements of say clearance? Just get the one for your card. It's not worth the hassle over 10CAD...

They make different cards for a reason, not to just make money. You wouldn't put monster truck tires on a shopping trolly if they where 10 CAD cheaper because it would be stupid and all the fucking around to make them fit would again be pointless. Fit the part that fits. Work smarter not harder...

I agree wholeheartedly. OP, unless somebody comes into this thread with info that the cheaper backplate will fit 100% fine with a painless install, just go with the one you know will work. Speaking from experience, playing around with the fire that is questionable compatibility WILL get you burned. That 10 CAD is better spent here than on... let me check those exchange rates... half a toothpick?
