Budget SSD help?

Go to solution Solved by r1Ns3,

I heard many bad things about the SSDNow series. I wouldnt go with that. Honestly your best bet is to go with the Samsung 850 evo. You can get them pretty cheap now. Even have one on massdrop at 250gb for $75 US. maybe check there for your country?

Ok, thank you for that info, I was very close to buying it.

Thank you for reminding me massdrop even existed. 250Gb SSD for only 100 bucks in my currency, wow that is really cheap. I think I will loan some money from my parents and get that while it is still availible. Thanks alot ;)

Hello everyone!

So, I recently decided that 250 GB SSD is not enough for all of my stuff, I do have a 320 GB hard drive but that is for all of my steam games. (and it is almost full)

I don't really have a budget but I want ~OK SSD performance for some of my Virtual machines and some other stuff, not a boot SSD!

I don't need 100% awesome super fast performance, my 850 Evo boot SSD is fast enough for a boot SSD :)

I do have a budget. I would prefer a 120 GB SSD for 50$ AUD BUT I am alright getting another 850 Evo SSD if there isn't a good 50$ option.

Thanks for any help :)

OK so i cannot read this without highlighting, but i got this from your post

  • You dont have a budget but you do have a budget
  • you have a 250 SSD and a 320 HDD
  • You want another SSD but not another SSD for booting
  • You have an 850 evo

So what is it you really want here? You want a cheap SSD for storing games?

I got a Samsung pro 240gb for $80 at bestbuy, works great

What is your currency? I doubt there is an 80$ AUD 240gb SSD anywhere in australia.

My guess is USD since I've seen that as well, hmm 50 bucks AUD is going to be tough due to mark ups and exchange rates

Yea, basically. Storing some often used games and Virtual machines for fast operation.

I have a part time job, just earning a bit of money doing something. I want to use some of the money on other stuff, if I can get a 50$ cheap ssd that isn't trash.

Basically, I want ssd that is cheap but best value point for storing games. I can spend more than 50 bucks but I would rather not if there is a good cheap ssd available.

I have seen the kingston SSDNow but it seems fishy so I am wondering what to do.
