Looks great but what are you going to use it for? gaming(if so what games)? editing? both?

The R9 390 would perform better in most games though

I know i sound like a total hypocrite because of my own pc, but i would spend more on gpu and less on cpu unless you truly need a i7.

@Festive Pretty good, but if its purely for gaming, go with unlocked i5 and get a stronger GPU.

The way i justify my own system is the fact I use VMWare, Soildworks, MATLAB, and Photoshop quite often and I had no reason to use anything higher than 1080p.

i don't mean to be rude, but i believe the 4790k may give him an advantage in terms of games (fps), but yes i agree, if you have $100 more go vith a GTX 980 or if you have $600 to spend on your GPU get a 980ti, and just so you know, according to the price charts, if you bought the pc in November it would be under $1500, i dont know if you care but i am just sayin

Sorry but that's just not true. If he is only using the PC for video games, he will benefit much more from a better GPU than CPU. However if he were to be doing any kind of editing/modelling which can utilize the i7 then sure its what he would need. An unlocked i5 would be more than fine for games. An i7 for pure gaming is just a waste of money in most cases.

The price of a 4790k vs i5 is simply too much for the performance benefit you would get.
