Confirm that the CPU is properly seated. double check the connector pins on the motherboard. If it still wont boot confirm operation with known working CPU. RMA the CPU

Tried everything you said,im going to test it on a friends pc,if it doesnt work,i will rma it

what's your motherboard???

 

reset cmos

flash latest bios

RMA

I have tested my motherboard ( MSI H97m-e35) with an i5 4460 and an i3 4170 and the pc boots with no problem, i also performed a bios update, still the 4690k wouldn't boot. The cpu is DOA so i am RMAing it

The cpu is the problem, i can boot normally with an i3 4170 and with an i5 4460, but not with my 4690k.Going to RMA it and get another one, or evne a 4790k. Thanks guys for helping me out

 

 

Glad to hear that the problem was figured out. Bummer though that it was the CPU.

The only thing we have to fear is... Stupidity...

What BIOS did you try to update to?  That board has several different BIOS updates for different processors.  You need to download the one listed directly beside the 4690K.  It is different from most of the others    -    http://us.msi.com/product/motherboard/support/H97M-E35.html#support-cpu

 

7846vK1 is the one you need

7846vK1 is the one you need

In that chart, you can see that for the i3-4160 i would have to use also the 7846vk1 bios, and my old 4160 ran fine. The cpu was doa and i have already RMAed it. But thanks for helping out
