SoftAP security type

Go to solution Solved by J1337,

So I used my master skills at googling for more answers and i found that windows forces you to use wpa2 and doesn't support other encryption without some tricks of installing XP drivers in winodws 7 or something like that.

But what i want to know, is this the same for windows 8/10? what about linux?

Also, if i were to run windows xp virtually in something like VMware, would i be able to make it work in XP?

edit: i didn't read carefully what i found and that is exactly what the method was, running xp in virtual mode

Hi there, i hope i make this topic in the right place.

So i have a wireless adaptor, the TP LINK TL-WN823N.

I use it to make a hotspot so i can connect to the PC's internet with my phone. So far so good, it works, the problem i have is that i want to change the security type from WPA2 to a older one or even NONE at all ( no password )

but i CAN'T.

there's no other option for me to choose from, only WPA2 / AES, there's nothing even if it shows a drop-down menu in the adaptor's software, only what you see is there (see the img below)

So how can i make the hotspot with other security type / none at all

I have windows 7, if it helps
