Fan controller

GeorgeKellow

I have 1 4 pin connector on my mobo.

I want to control my fans but they're all 3 pin. Can I connect all of them up to a fan controller and turn down the speed of the fans using it?

However I've been told I cannot control 3 pin fans they need to be 4 pin pwm.

Get a fan head spitter olny a few bucks.

For MSI mobos you can control 4 pin to 3 pin fans.

To control from the computer I believe that is true, but you can get external fan controllers (powered by molex, they just turn the power up and down to adjust RPM) VERY cheaply (check eBay for fan controllers). You can get ones for the front panel of the case for easy access.

Almost as cool as my temps

Looks good. You will have to open your case to use it. Getting a direct splitter into you're mobo would allow control via software.

Does it fit into a dvd bay?

It's 3.5" whereas the front panel bays are 5.25", so you could leave it with a gap, get a mounting bracket (£3?) to put them at the front, or do what I've been doing and sticking them in the HDD bays inside

Edit: Like this http://i.imgur.com/zZuWlaL.jpg all snug with my HDD.
