Time for a new HDD?

So I ran a test on my HDD, because it is quite slow now- I am 20 seconds in battle until it loads in World of Tanks or Armored Warfare, not to mention the waiting time in BF4.

Seems pretty normal to me, you'd be better off investing in a new HDD or SSD...

I defragged it 3 days ago.

Yes, WD Green. WD10EZRX, EZEX I think was Blue. EFRX is Red.

Yeah, i would get a SSD or maybe a SSHD if you want space and speed.

The drive that you have is a WD Green and it is designed and recommended for secondary storage and backups. Due to its energy-saving features and lower noise and heat output it has rather longer access times and spins down more frequently compared to performance drives and longer loading times are normal with such drives. 

 

If you doubt the drive's health there are some things that you can do:

- I would download and run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool and see if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests. Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=zZu8Fg

- You can also get a second diagnostic utility to verify the results and give you the raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. status. Feel free to post them here if you have trouble reading them. 

- You can run chkdsk /r from the cmd to check for bad sectors. 

- You can run a benchmark tool to see your drive's speeds and compare them to the ones in the spec sheet: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=SWs6XB
