Hey all, fairly new to the forums here.

I was wondering how well the H80i would work with a 3930K at a 4.5-4.7 GHz overclock.  I understand that it will probably work just fine at stock, but I'm concerned with performance under overclocking conditions.  I would also be fitting a pair of Cougar Vortex fans as well for quietnes, along with the radiator being in the Silverston FT03 with LP RAM.

Any input would be welcome. :)

Thanks for the input everyone!

Not really, I'm totally fine with running it stock, I was just wondering if I could run it with an overclock seeing as how much it can boost performance.
As for the case, it's the one I'll be using so I'd have to mod to fit an H100i.

may i introduce the Silverstone FT03

FT03B-34View-2.jpg

mATX case with no 240mm compatibility. the H80 usually runs 10°-13° warmer

than the 240 option. honestly, the form factor is great, but really a challenge for

the LGA2011 for an overclocking perspective. H80/i will only carry it so far and the

rest is shear torture. you might mod the crud outta the case to make the dual 120

work, but all the work and really none of the reward. i'd consider a FD Arc Mini R1/R2

for the LGA2011 platform with more possibilities in water-cooling.

if these are already purchased, considering the case space, the H80/i would be really

the only alternative as the air coolers won't have the "area" to do right.

Nothing has been purchased yet (waiting for the retail edge winter sale, praying for 3930K); however I really really like the form-factor of the case, which will be coming with me to university when I eventually move out.

Planned core specs:
3930K
Rampage IV Gene
16GB Corsair Vengance LP. 1866
Samsung 840 Evo SSD, etc.
Dual reference 660ti's

It would be a small-form-factor editing rig, and also for gaming high-end games, etc.
I'm perfectly OK with running the 3930K at the stock frequencies, as it's still a powerhouse.

Sorry about the slight derail there, but at stock the H80i would be ok, yes?

more like 5ºC with OC (h80i vs h100i) ...

not per Linus' testing with the H100i and H80i (P/P) with aftermarket fans (F12)

adjusted to 20° ambient:

H100i = 71°

H80i (P/P) = 84.2°

boasting a 3930k overclocked in a C70 case..
