A few days ago, Ducky released a firmware update to the shine 3 to fix the issue of keyboards crashing. This firmware also added an additional lighting mode.

This got me thinking: would people be able to create additional lighting modes and utilize them on the keyboards?

Would something like a splash effect comprised of a combination of two of the lighting modes (vertical and horizontal spreading) already on the keyboard be possible?

It should be possible, yes. The Roccat Ryos (?) has something like this.

Case-NZXT H440 | Motherboard-Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H | RAM-Kingston HyperX Blue 2x8GB 1600MHz | CPU-Intel 3770K @ 4.3GHz at 1.215v | Heatsink-Coolermaster Hyper212 Evo | GPU-EVGA GTX660 SC | SSD-MX200 250GB | HDD-Seagate Barracuda 3TB | PSU-EVGA GS650

Mouse-Logitech G600 | Keyboard-Ducky Shine 3 MX Blue. white backlight | Headphones-Audiotechnica ATH-M50s. Beyerdynamic DT990

Depending on how the lighting is wired it should be possible.

My keyboard only has red LEDS under the keys so of course it would be impossible to make it blue with firmware but, those keyboards that have RGB diodes in them should be able to be tweaked.

If there is a good chip controlling the LEDs you may also be able to light up different sections or have a progressive fade or whatever just all depends...

Side note: I wonder how much bandwidth things like this would use... Would keyboards finally need USB2 let alone 3?
