Wifi extension?

Can i use a 2nd router to extend wifi network? Cause i have a wireless N router right now and i want wireless AC sometime next year.

 

Can i have the AC as my main router for my living room and then my old router on the 2nd floor of my house(farthest away from router) via powerline and get wireless N for my sister's comp(has a wireless N card) and phone(droid razr)
