I'm going to be deploying coming up soon and I'd like to take my movies and tv shows with me. I currently have about 5TB of content and it grows almost daily. I currently am running a Dell Poweredge 6950 with 5x 2TB drives and I'm hoping to replace that. Back at my parents I had bought a WD mybook live that connects to ethernet, however I don't like the interface because I use Emby. I'm debating between getting larger drives as my content spans across three drives, and placing them in my computer. However I'd rather have my computer off since it's liquid cooled. I just would like to have the movies accessible so my roommate can watch them.

Does anyone recommend any scalable NAS device which can support Emby?

Also what external drive with usb 3.0 would you recommend for me to deploy with? I'm looking at a 8TB right now.

Hey there MatthewEnderle,

For the portable external drive I would suggest checking out WD's solutions and see if any of them would fit your needs: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=CVed6c . WD My Book Duo should be a good fit for both speed and capacity. :)

Regarding the NAS I can suggest checking out WD's My Cloud series and see if they can meet your demands and criteria: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=RbFpdh Each of them support different third-party applications and work great for streaming movies over the network or the internet. :)
