Hey all, sorry if I am a bit repetetive but INTEL speedstep isn't working for me!

I am trying to overclock my i7 6700K with GTX H110i AIO water cooler.

TEMPS are fine, 30° at idle and 65° at load

I don't want my CPU to run 1.3 volts at 4.5 GHz all the time, just when It's under load, but for some reason sitting at 4% load, it is constantly at 1.3 volts as I set it in the BIOS and 4.5 GHz

Isn't speedstep supposed to lower it to like 800 MHz or like 1 GHz when not in use heavily?

Specifications of system is in the signature of my post.

Any help will be appreciated.

AND YES, I HAVE CLEARED CMOS

You have to set voltage to Adaptive Mode for that, speedstep lets the core clock, clock down.

So just set it to adaptive mode and leave it like that? this part really confused me, there was also an offset mode, no idea what that is. I have it on manual right now.

Set the voltage u want then change from manual to adaptive mode, adapaditve does add a little more voltage but nothing crazy

Oh ok, then in that case I will set the manual to 1.28 ish and see where it takes me to under 100% load, my target is about 1.32.1.35 volts.

Thanks alot. will see if this works now

Soz. Enable it in Bios?

Also voltage can stay the same but CPU clocks go up and down regardless of voltage (normally).

When at idle it's at 800MHz but once you do something then it'll go straight to 2-3 or even 4GHz.

Ok

I will look for a setting that looks familiar now, also setting the voltage to adaptive mode.

You use manual mode to find a stable voltage and then adapative to reduce constant voltage

IT DOESNT WORK!!

Legit, the adaptive mode and speedstep are enabled in the bios, they were on auto but I set them to ON!

and it doesn't work! my voltage is still to exactly what I set it, not going up or down and same thing with the cpu clocks!!!

wtff?

I turned turbo boost off, now its just giving me 4ghz only and stuck at 1.16 volts... I have no idea why. speedstep was still turned on since that is what i am trying to fix
