Upgrade Advice

Hello, well I'll get right to it, I'm planning on upgrading my pc pretty soon, which is an a10 5800k , Gigabyte F2A75m-D3H mobo, Zalman ZM500-GS, 2x4gb 1333mhz ddr3 generic ram, was checking on the 2nd hand stores and am caught up in a choice between, an FX-8320 with a Gigabyte GA990FXA UD3 rev 4.0 bundle for $190, or i5 3570k for $160 and just buy a mobo later

It seems as though you don't understand that you'd need a motherboard for the machine to be able to run at all if you got the intel chip?

What do you use this machine for?

If gaming, you're going to want to get dedicated graphics because integrated graphics 8320 is nonexistent and it's bad on the 3570k.

Also, if you're not doing something that's properly multithreaded and depends on the most computational power possible, the 3570k is probably the better option for you.

Sig under construction.

Yes well for the intel mobo I was planning on getting an Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 for $80, I used to have a 6670 in my cpu but sold that, waiting for my Gtx 760 to arrive

i also saw an i7 3770k for $145 if that would be a better option, and I'm going to be using a RipJaws X 2x4gb CL9 2133, I mostly do video editing and a bit of online gaming, probably maybe try out some modern games, I wanted to know which option would give me the best price to performance ratio

I would get the 3770k, but the i5 is also fine. With adequate cooling, they can easily reach 4.5ghz and easily outperform any overclocked fx chip.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case
