Would you use this?

Go to solution Solved by byalexandr,

Would I use a monitor arm? Yes.

Would I use a cheap one? No.

Get something nice and sturdy, unless this one has a good reputation.

wanted something cheap to try out for my monitors but it's not necessary, so would any of you try it.

it looks well made but I personally don't like those types of monitor stands.

The welds actually look quite weak.

I have welding certifications and years of experience though, for manufacturing like this it's okay, at least for a couple of monitors.

It's kind of just how the monitor stand market works. There seems to be very good, expensive stuff and bad, cheap stuff, with very little inbetween.

Luckily, here in the UK we have Duronic, which is decent quality for a good price. Ergotron is probably the best, but they're very expensive.

It's not so much the welds as it is the joints and quality of the locking mechanisms. The tilt lock on the ends on the mounts probably won't hold properly with any monitor with at least a little weight on it.

I've had the same thing happen on a cheap stand before, even on monitors that are well below its maximum weight specs. It holds it, but the whole stand kind of tilts forward, and the tilt mechanism won't stay in position. It's very annoying to have to keep correcting it.

Only ever heard of Silverstone, which is definitely a reputable brand. Doesn't always mean that their products are good, though.
