Going to buy CPU.

Here's the problem. I have an old pc, I dont have money buying all the parts for a new one. I want to buy a new CPU, but the motherboard is prety old to take those powerfull new CPUs. My motherboard is ASRock 4Core1600-D800 and I allready run a Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2200 2.20 GHz (I cri T.T). I did some researche and I can run a Intel Core 2 Quad which is a 4core procesor, do you really think I must take this CPU. If yes then which model. If no what do you suggest?
