Building a router

Go to solution Solved by Sack,

so you could make it more efficient? Faster or longer distance etc?

Usually you will be better off with an "off the shelf" product, the only guys I know who built their own routers are security experts, and others that do it because they had some leftover stuff and wanted to build something new just because they can and they want to try something new.

What advantages are there of making a router insteed of buying one

depends on if u want wireless or not, if u do then don't, just buy one

i just want a really good router with idk if this is possible but a function where I click a button It turns of for ten sec and restarts; longer wireless distance and a more efficient connection/speed as my internet is 1gb up 500mb down unlimited data

not really, PFsense is more made to be a wired based router rather than wireless and can sometimes have issues with wireless transmissions from what i've heard.

For wireless you're better off buy one like the 68U or 87U from asus because they've put in the time to find the optimal wireless standards and equipment to improve your setup; they also prove extras which PFsense may not provide.
