It is good, but try to get a six core if you are on X58. Why the old parts, Used? Also try to get 12GB Of RAM

If you're just going to be gaming, get an i5, they are just as good as i7 (NOTE: Only in gaming. Photoshop, Sony Vegas etc. will perform BETTER with an i7). Save some money and add it to a better gpu or more RAM, if needed/wanted
