I was playing Assassin's Creed Unity on my PC. Temps were at about 60-70 degrees, that is with the side panel attached. I don't know why but my game froze and my PC suddenly restarted. Is it because of the heat? The temps are at about 50-60 when I play without the side panel on and my PC never randomly restarted with the side panel unattached. I use a CoolerMaster 212X with an I7-5820K and a GTX 970. I overclocked my CPU to about 3.8ghz and my gpu to about 1400+mhz. And is getting a Corsair Hydro series cooler worth purchasing for my PC?

Turn down your overclocks and see if it crashes?

I agree with this idea.

CPU's and GPU's have predetermined thermal limits based on use at stock settings, but overclocking will make those limits get a little tighter.

Also to stabilize your clocks, you could toss the chips a little extra voltage, but based on your already warm results, I doubt you'd get too much more.

Example: my 4970K is overclocked to 4.7GHZ, but it wouldn't run stable at the stock 1.2v, but after prime95 burn-ins, 1.35v kept it stable and prevented thermal throttling.

About the OC's though. I keep my computer OC'ed and with the side panel unattached, it never crashed. It only crashed when I put the side panel back on. So do I try removing the OC's and put my side panel back on?

Yes it shouldn't crash with a normal case environment with stock clocks.

Yes but is shouldn't crash with stock clocks only thermal throttle if the cooling isn't sufficient.

Consider adding/upgrading fans too. I try to use the largest and quietest ones I can fit. Like a 200mm 67cf/m frontal intake on my Corsair Obsidian 250D.

I'm not overheating squat, the fan is the size of the chassis lol

Would getting a Corsair H series improve my temps? I prefer to keep the side panel on as I don't like seeing my terrible wire management.

In your case, yes and no. If you're still pulling in hot air, you'll still be pushing hot air through your radiator. The greater surface area may help, but may not warrant the excess price. You may just need to do what I always did, have summer and winter profile settings.

I have now tried the cpu and gpu on stock clock. With the side panel it is at about 65-70 degrees with the side panel still on and the performance decrease in the game is visible.

Might be something you'll need to deal with until you have better air conditioning or turn your side panel into a box fan. Also positioning your case may help. Get it off the floor and into a well ventilated area. Make sure there isn't any fuzz bunnies living inside there.

Might I recommend this affordable air cooling solution for hot climates?

I don't have a leaf blower and I think getting a leaf blower would be a more expensive solution compared to other liquid coolers. I positioned my case on the table and I have a fan that is facing my PC. Is getting a liquid cooler the best solution as of now? Or are there other solutions?

As I mentioned before, if you're pulling in warm air, you'll be pushing through warmer air. You may see up to a 5°C improvement, but may not fix the stability issues you're having without cooling your ambient temperature. Could fix your cable management so you feel better with the side panel off. So it's your choice, it'll be a gamble on purchasing a water cooler since you're using a pretty solid air cooler already.

Alright, I'll try fixing managing my cables first and see if it improves the performance.
