Hello users of the forum! I'm planning on building a new system for gaming and overclocking anywhere between 4.2-4.6 ghz . You can check out my plans right here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1yOtF

I have some questions about it:

I plan on going 2way sli in the future and will be overclocking those cards using gpu boost 2.0, as well as doing the overclock on my cpu that I stated before. My question is whether or not a 750w psu is too much, too little, or perfectly fine. Also, should I go with the hx,ax,tx,or cx model, or something entirely different?

Also, do you think that this is a good mobo for gaming and ocing?

And please give me your feedback on what parts I can improve on or are overkill.

Thanks for stopping by my topic and checking it out!

You need to specify what GPU you are using. In general 750w is enough for most two way sli/cfx setups.

HX=Semi modular, Gold, 'sweet spot'

AX= Full modular, Platinum (the AX 'i" PSUs are Platinum)/Gold, enthusiast level

TX=Semi modular and non modular/Bronze, 'best value' oriented

CX=Semi Modular and non modular/Bronze, low budget oriented

GTX 760 SLI is way too under-powered for your budget. 750W is overkill, even if you SLI the GTX 760.

Ok thanks, so should I go ax or hx? And what wattage?

Your build is overly expensive for the performance.

I would go HX. The AX costs too much imo. You might want to check the CPU cooler compatibility with the RAM you have chosen. I would get G.Skill Ripjaws X instead. You can also load Windows 8 onto a USB drive and install it that way without the need of a DVD drive.

@WoodenMarker Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable with that mobo and have heard that that case has limited space, so I'd rather spend the extra cash and get some nicer parts. Any suggestions more along the lines of my current build?

Why are you uncomfortable? All of the z87 mobos are quite exceptional in quality.

A mid atx case will have ample space for all your parts. You could easily do your build in a micro atx form factor.

My link was my suggestion that would significantly outperform yours.

@nitelitezzz ok thanks! Even tho its semi modular, hx has easy cable management right? And I might play old games on it, so I need the DVD drive. And are my RAM heatsinks too high? I thought it was one of the smaller coolers. How can I tell if it is?

@target39 thanks, but what wattage then?

It depends. Do you feel strongly about sticking with the GTX 760 and to SLI in the future? 650W should be enough, but if you are going to overclock, stick with the 750W. For the system you have posted now, it is overkill, but if you are going to SLI and overclock both GPU's and CPU, go with the 750W for the headroom.

@zip2k4 thanks! Epic build! But concerned about space, how many games and is can fit on that ssd?

use the SSD for OS

use the HD drive for games :)

*edit*

I'm guessing you want to go for all red build, hence all the parts' color :P
