Supermicro X8SIL-F compatibility

So a bit ago i asked if anyone knew if a board was dead:

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/521159-motherboard-cooling-liquid-dead/

Since my buddy still has a working i7-860 he was looking if he could find a 1156 motherboard for cheap (since 1156 are basically ''extinct'', the ones that are out there cost a fortune) and he came across that server mobo. The official site says it supports max i3's, but i did google and saw it can support i5's. Now the question is, can it support an i7? Does anyone have any clue or experience?

Asking cause the board and an i3-540 come for like 40€.

I've seen it with i7 860s, but unsure about the PCB revision of those MBs

EDIT: wait... if it works with that 32 nm i3, it should work with a i7 860

I found an issue, probably.

On a site some were claiming that their i7-860 work with this mobo, but on the intel official site, the i7-860 officially doesn't support ECC ram. I'm confused :S
