Will a hdd with a OS work on it , still if i put it in a new system (of different parts)?

just as title says...if i get a free computer from someone..and it has win 7 on it..can i plan a new build..and use that hdd and os for it?

Yeah, you might need to contact MS support though.

You would have to uninstall all drivers first, esp the motherboard chipset drivers.

Even then it may be an iffy experience with possible random bluescreensofdeath.

But it may work fine. (Most people just re-install) but it can be done on some PC's without issue.

 

Plus Microsoft may bitch about the change in Hardware and lock your legit Windows until you call them.
