i would have gone with 16GB and buy cheaper memory like vengeance. memory is memory. unless you are actually gonna make it look good and don't have a budget. imho

I thought about 16GB aswell but i didnt see a need for the extra 8 as i was only going to use the pc for gaming. 

+ the looks are somewhat irresistible in my eyes

Well if you ever do photo editing or video editing, make sure to get another 8gb because you will definitely need it.

maybe later on but id rather keep it easy for the beginning 

Actually i looked at the side panel for the 500r and it would be really easy. There is already a cutout for the mesh. Just remove that and cut a piece of acrylic or have someone do it for you. Then you can just use 3m tape to stick it on, or you can screw it in for extra security.
