Not booting into windows installer

no_clntrol

I used Rufus to make a bootable flash drive with Win7, then launched into bios and set the boot priority to 1: USB-HDD 2: USB-CDROM 3: HARD-DISK but it still boots like it normal, what did I do wrong?

Something might have gone wrong in the formatting. There are softwares that can test if the stick is bootable. I've never used them so can't recommend a specific one but there's a bunch of them. Google for 'How To Test Bootable USB'

I tried one that would boot like a virtual machine, but all I got was a frozen image of the Win10 logo (I believe). Tried formatting again and same thing happened. Are there any other programs like Rufus I could try?

Yeah, sure. I've used RMPrepUSB for UBCD and this (in the step 2) apparently unnamed thing for Hiren's. But if it's Win 7 or 8.1, you should just use the one Microsoft provides. If it's Ten, the tool that downloads the ISO also formats the USB.

Just to clarify, I do not have a legitimate key, I am the Jack Sparrow of operating systems (not really but you get the idea.) Would it still work?

try this:

  1. start the machine with the USB key unplugged
  2. Once the machine has got through the first parts of its boot sequence, plug the key in, then hit the F12 key to bring up the boot menu. Look for the usb drive in the list of boot devices.

plug the USB key in just after the BIOS displayed the list of PCI devices, and just as it gave its "Verifying DMI pool" message.

Thank you! What do you mean? It was 6AM and I fell asleep after my last post, I did not intend to seem ungrateful.
