Video editing ram

I am getting a laptop with 6GBs of ram is that enough for editing in Sony Vegas

How much stuff are you editing and is it 1080p? because if so no. You can edit video on it but that doesn't mean its gonna be a fun experience.

i run into issues with my 8gb of ram on my desktop. You will be able to do editing with 6gb of ram, but it will likely be painfully slow to use.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

In 1080 and not that often

You could edit with it but it will be slow and clunky. It might even crash if you don't have your settings properly set.

Does the ram change the rendering times??

No the CPU will change the render times the ram is where the CPU stores what its working on, like a work desk if it gets full it has to take the time to move the stuff its not working on to the the storage and pull the new stuff out. It takes much more time this way even with an SSD.
