Hey, my buddy looking to upgrade their computer. He has an old Dell computer聽

(Dell vostro 470 Ci7 3.4 8GB/1000 Gt620 W7p)

I'm not sure if it's better to buy a new computer when most are right worthless. He has a budget of around 500 dollar, he plays games that are not so demanding like Lol and CS . If I am right, then the processor is good but it is difficult to find new motherboards to the fitting socket and correct PCIe . Because I assume that the PCI is not compatible with newer graphics cards . Grateful for all the answers

its a 3rd gen CPU meaning its either a Sandy bridge or an Ivy bridge CPU and I'm leaning towards it being an Ivy bridge

look for H77 or Z77 motherboard, reuse the old ram, and buy a better PSU and a new graphics card and a case

I've worked on one of those before that had a 3770 on a H77 motherboard with the GT620.聽 If I remember right it had a 350 watt PSU so if you don't want to do a full build I would spend maybe $250 on a decent 500 watt PSU and something like a r9 380.聽 The 3770 is still very capable of running modern games and even if the motherboard has a older PCIe 2.0 slot it will still work with newer GPU's.

hey, i would recommend just going for a brand new computer, it should be able to handle LOL and CSGO no problem at mid to high graphic settings

The i7 in that Dell runs circles around a FX-4350 so it would be better to reuse the CPU, RAM, and maybe even the motherboard in a new build.聽 The motherboard may not be the best but good socket 1155 boards are hard to find for a reasonable price.
