So I need some help with my computer, the problem i am having is that my computer turns itself off at times when i am playing video games, i do think the problem is overheating but i have no idea really what it is.

I am wondering if I can make any improvements on my system in terms off better cooling.

I am currently using the stock cooler for the CPU.

I had a water cooler for my CPU but that doesn't work properly because it reaches very high temps for some reason.

AND I have 1 EXTRA fan for use

And also I think my CPU is lacking because i cant play GTA V(insane lag spikes).

It is a AMD FX 6100 @ 2.9 GHz, the normal speed is 3.3GHz out of box.

In the picture I have attached the CPU score from the same CPU running @ 3.6GHz compared to my CPU @ 2.9GHz

from this website  (https://www.cpubenchmark.net)

I want to be able to overclock my CPU/PC without my PC going to shit because it gets too hot.

holy mother of gpu sag  :o

Have you checked the temps while idle and at load? if they look high, that could be a reason.

UPDATE:

When I took my pc out I removed some dust, and now i get around 30-32 degrees @ idle, and around 44-48/9 on my CPU, when playing games like mortal kombat x and GTAV.

Also GTAV works :D

But im still interested in overclocking my CPU!

and maybe get help installing a new fan, I dont know where to put it.
