You can duplicate your OS to a new HDD or SDD. There's a few videos on YouTube that show you how to do this.

Install the SSD, install Windows 10 on it with a flash drive, transfer all data from old HDD to new HDD. Done.

yes but can we use her existing windows 8.1/windows 10 key to install windows or would we need another key ?

yeas but as i said befopre we would need a 1tb SSD for that and she hasnt got that kind of budget , her internet is complete crap so re-downloading all her games and stuff is a no no

If she already has W10 activated, then it will activate as soon you as you finish installing and go online.

No key needed.

At least my software completely emptied the partition I clone.

Oh wiat I forgot something. You can just clone partitions. You don't need to do the whole drive.

Old one should be able to be reused if you just use it for te same PC to do a reinstallation. Will have to call MS to reenable the key for you. Just tell them what you aer doing and why you need the key and it will be fine.

Dude, I just told you that if W10 is already activated, then you don't need to buy anything.

yes windows 10 is already activated but we want to re-install to another drive , without cloning , surely we would need another key for that ?

No, since you aren't changing the motherboard. Trust me.. it's work fine if you are just changing and adding drives.

right so if we re-install on the new SSD with a windows 10 iso and skip the "enter key" part it will auto activate ?

If you don't have any external storage to store some of your necessary stuff I only have one idea left.

Idk how to do any of this exactly but my guess would be making a new partition and shifting Windows into it and then copying that. Honestly I have no Idea how to go about this. Might as well post another specific question about this single issue on the forum. Surely there willbe somebody omre competent than me to help you.
