Hey folks, I'm new here but I'm sure y'all do this kind of stuff :). I currently "game" on a rather bad laptop that I've had for about 2 years now, and I've decided that it's time to upgrade to a desktop. I'd like to build a Desktop, that can run games like fallout 4, GTA V, CS:GO and more at decent FPS (30+). My budget is £400 maximum, as that's all I can afford. I have a mouse, monitor and keyboard. I need an operating system. For all you american folks, my budget is $600 (Give or take). If you could include (I know that it's hard to say) the amount of fps the build would get on the above games, that would be appreciated. Many thanks, SteamedCabbage.

Welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't give a US budget, since import taxes are a thing over here in ol' Blighty.

And for £400...your best bet may be to search around for used parts. However, I'll certainly rummage around for what I can find brand new. BRB.

get windows on G2A or reddit
get this 680

good to go

Could this build play all games decently, or just most, or even just a few? I'm looking to try and get into more serious gaming with a tight budget :D

This is all I've really been able to scrounge up.

£413 is probably gonna be a hard sell, and if you do get this, try to find a different PSU. I couldn't remember which specific one I should have included here.

If you can't afford it, either ditch the SSD entirely, or deal with the SSD for now and ditch the hard drive. In either case, pump a bit more money into the power supply, and save up for that missing thing until you can afford it.

You're brave, I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole.

worst case scenario, the mess that ebay is, the buyer can win almost every case, so it was never much of a worry.

Just, a better quality unit overall. Corsair's CX range is generally not intended for gaming computers, though the CX430M is somewhat cheap and will deliver the power you need......though I can't vouch for it being the best quality unit you'll ever have.

get this 680

-snip-

That is some sketchy dealings.

In fact, I looked into the specifications of the 680, and compared it to that.

The 680 doesn't have a VGA output (the Vamery does), has a DisplayPort output (the Vamery doesn't), has 2GB of 256-bit GDDR5 (not 384-bit DDR3), supports 3-way SLI (where're the fingers, Vamery?) and has two 6-pin connectors (the Vamery only has one).

Oh, and the flavour text is all written in bizarrely worded and poorly spell-checked English, and the open air design is very VERY uncharacteristic of cards of that nature.

I would absolutely not consider this. Not even cheap. That can very easily mess something up. Granted, it could just be a GT 630 in disguise or something, but again - don't go for it.

With regards to that eBay listing...

You'll be getting this. Something closer to an 8800 GTS if the GPU number is to go by.
