Best GTX 970 (or 390) under £280

Flibbib

Hi all,

I RMA'd my GTX 970 Windforce (not the G1) due to the card being bent. I've been given a refund of £260 as I want to reconsider my choices. I can put a bit more into it if needs be, but I would rather go cheaper for the same performance and put some money towards a new SSD as mine is showing some rather worrying signs of imminent failure. The 390 bandwagon is welcome here as I have seriously been considering it but am worried about driver performance. I play a wide range of games, but do play a lot of BF4, FO4 and CSGO amongst others, and did use NVENC for streaming. Will NVENC work on a 390 as i only have a 4690k and it hasn't got that good of streaming performance.

Thanks in advance guys.

Get a 390 and use Quick Sync for streaming as you have an intel CPU.

The 390 and the 970 perform the same. 970 has NVENC, AMD has VCE. Both do essentially the same thing.

I don't know much about UK pricing, but get whichever is cheaper.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Will VCE pop up as an option in Xsplit if I have a AMD card in? At the moment it only shows H264 and nvenc. And I say only a 4690k as its a new build lol.
