Anyone plays Command & Conquer games?

I love Command and Conquer, in fact I grew up playing the originals on the PS1, my favorite is C&C Red Alert Retaliation.   Unfortunately it all went to crap when Westwood Studios was bought by EA.  I still boot up my PS1 emulator on my Ouya and play it every now and then. Still have the original disks and my PS1 but no modern cable coverter so I cannot use it. :(

^ That's the general opinion I hold of C&C as well. It went from campy but serious and intense, to ridiculous and trying to look like it was trying to look like it was campy.

There's a fan-made installer for Red Alert which makes it run perfectly on modern machines without graphical issues.

Not entirely. Warcraft, C&C, Total Annihilation, Age of Empires, and others all do things differently. I think that the closest experience to classic C&C is Dark Reign, or Age of Empires.

Could check out Dark Reign on GoG, and there's Age of Empires 2 HD on Steam.

Or check out Supreme Commander, or Plannetary Annihilation. But those are in the vein of Total Annihilation.

Could check out Star Wars Empire at War: http://store.steampowered.com/app/32470/

It's on sale at 70% off right now.

Also, Krush Kill 'n Destroy is an old RTS that's similar in design to classic C&C.

Any suggestion for strategy game similar to Command & Conquer games series?

Supreme Commander is a good one, but in my opinion don't bother with SupCom II. It dumbed everything down and made things too simple; if you like the strategy of actually conducting an attack and defense, I'd highly recommend SupCom and it's expansion pack Forged Alliance. It takes some getting used to though, it can be pretty complex at first but don't fret, once you get the hang of it it can be loads of fun either by yourself or with some friends. Download Sorian AI Mod if you plan on sticking to single player skirmishes, as that dude tweaked the AI so they are actually competition (especially the cheating ones).

Starcraft is also a good choice, as it presents a pretty decent balance between the different species.
