CPU/Fan making noise

3: So I'm sure its the fan but I wanted a second opinion.. Its only when I start using Boinc at anything higher than 50 percent usage, it starts to make a whining sound that almost.. It kind of sounds like bad brakes on a car? Its only when I do that though. When I play an intensive game it doesnt make the noise. Should I be replacing the CPU fan soon? (Its stock) It does not make the noise at any other time.

Try connecting one fan to 4 pin molex from your PSU, then boot up to UEFI/BIOS. Do the same thing with other fan. It doesn't look like it could be a coil whine or anything like that...

I think I've misunderstood you, are you sure that it isn't any of your case fans?

I'm positive. I can make it go on and off, the sound I mean, with literally pausing and unpausing Boinc

You game on it at all? My PC made terrible whining noises with the stock CPU cooler whenever I would start folding. Those little fans try so hard but they really dont cut it

I do game, I play GTA adn Arma games .w. but ill try to load up GTA and see if it makes the same sounds, since it pushes it

Or run benchmarks. Make the little guy scream, then buy a new cooler

It wasnt as bad, but still present. I dont wanna say its coil whine from the graphics card, since its a 760 Can I have them cranked reasonably.. The CPU fan at full tilt doesnt seem to make the noise.. can the CPU make a coil whine? Owo

Download a GPU utility like MSI Afterburner and set a custom fan speed to 20% and run something. That way we can single out if its the GPU or CPU whining.
