I've had a Phenom II X6 1090T for almost 3 years now and while it has been a reliable chip I do not see anything in AMD's current lineup that I would upgrade to. The only components that will be changing in my rig are the motherboard and processor. I plan on doing gaming, MATLAB programming, video editing, and video conversions. I have been looking between either a i7 3770k w/ an Asus Sabertooth Z77 or a i7 3930k w/ an Asus Sabertooth X79. Just looking for some input on what is a good choice.

Current Build

Phenom II X6 1090T

Unless you doing hardcore video editing and such, the Z77 platform will be great for general use and save you a few bucks over the X79 platform.
