Slow network copying

So we wanted to LAN some games on new years day with friends but copying files from a network map goes awfully slow with games around 5gb it takes all day, this is within my own network I thought it would be faster?

how are you transferring everything? wifi? ethernet? powerline?

On my dekstop (with cable to router) i made a shared windows map the laptops are connected wireless.
