Do I need to get a new one?

Also, how long do you have the hard drive?

try defragging your hard drive. Spinning platter hdd's store information in a not so linear way. It can sometimes store info for one program all over the disk making the needle have to move much greater distances. There are a lot of defragging softwares out there razer makes a few.

Deffraging will store the programs in a more linear fashion reducing the distance the needle has to move and making the time it takes to gather the information to run the program a lot quicker.
