Help Installing Windows 8

Go to solution Solved by Axeonelite,

Ok, so can I delete the partition from that same setup window? Can I just hit the delete button with the drive selected?

Yes. Delete them all that way it shows one drive with all your space.

So I'm trying to install windows 8 for the first time. I got to the point where it asks me to select a drive to install on. When I try to choose it, it says "Windows can't be installed on drive 0 partition 1. (Show Details)" When I click "(Show Details)", it says "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. I got no clue what this means or how to fix it.

Don't do drugs. Do hugs!

Erm... I'm kinda a noob when it comes to this. How do I do any of that? Very confused...

Delete all paritions and then it should just be listed as DRIVE 0 and install from there. You're probably seeing multiple partitions such as a recovery partition and such

Click Delete instead of changing the size. lol

Yea, thats not what I'm seeing. Im at that stage of the setup, but theres only one partition/drive shown, and that size thing you have circled in red isnt there at all...

edit: I deleted the one partition/drive it was showing and now it seems to be installing just fine. Hopefully it's gonna work now.

Yeah it has to be fresh. Any partitions and it wont work :) sorry for the confusion. and the circle was because it was a stock image online. It didn't mean anything relevant to you haha

Haha no problem. I had to attempt to install windows 8 times across 3 machines the last few days due to errors and updates. Glad I could help.
