Hello,

I currently own a GTX 770 and it runs pretty well. I'm looking for an upgrade though. I want to max out GTA V but I cant seem to get 60FPS. Just Cause 3 also will not max out either.

I was looking at an R9 390, or GTX 970. Which should I choose?

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Corsair H100i Pro | ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 | Corsair Vengeance 32GB 2x16gb @ 3200mhz  | Vega 64 @ Stock | Fractal Design Define R4 | Corsair RM750

ThinkPad T480 | Intel Core i7 8650u | Nvidia MX150 | 32GB DDR4 @ 2400mhz | Samsung 840 Pro 1tb

If you have a pretty high wattage on your psu go with the r9 390, its slighty better than the 970 but if your afraid it's cutting close (example: me) then just go with the 970 theres a small difference.

I have an RM750, no problems in the PSU area.

I think you can't go wrong with either. 390 is probably better if you plan to do any 4k stuff, but otherwise they're pretty similar. 390 uses considerably more power to run.

The only piece of advice I can offer is you should probably snag whichever card you choose off jet dot com (assuming you've never ordered from there) since you can get it for ~$50-60 off the 300-330 price for being a first time buyer or more if they're still offering apple/android pay and you probably wont have to pay tax. The only downside is jet is slow.. you'll probably get your order like 9-14 days later.
