Hey guys, first post on this forum. Not completely sure if this topic fits under this category, but I'm in the market for a new chair. I've tried out Maxnomic and DXRacer chairs a number of times and enjoyed them, but as they are marketed as "gaming" chairs, they're marked up a fair amount. If you guys had any suggestions for a quality chair (preferably with good lumbar support) for around $200, it would be greatly appreciated.

200 is a lot. Too much, can get new peripherals or better things. Try looking online. My friend got one for like 50$ and it was really comfortable. I forgot what site

200 for a chair is so not "Too much".  I will never, ever buy a chair for under 200.

Realistically speaking. That's like most of your paycheck so that your glutes get the best and most comfortable seating and padding

If you spend hours and hours in front of computer or gaming, the chair that supports your body, your comfort, your structural well-being is damn important

$200 is not "a lot" for a chair in the slightest.

Also - most of those chairs also tend to not be "marked up" that much if you look at actual office chairs of the same quality. That tends to be a myth. Under $200 chairs at, say, Staples are much worse quality than the same price of DXRacer & such.

DXRacer and Maxnomic chairs are "expensive" because they are actual quality products. If anything, their price is lower than a proper office chair because they can sell a far higher volume due to marketing at eSports events and tech channels on YouTube. A proper office chair that lacks the marketing, like Herman Miller or Steelcase? You're looking at 2-3 times the price of a Maxnomic chair.

And really, you should think about the context for the chair. The chair you sit on gets used more than anything else you spend money on, because every single second you sit on it counts as usage. Watch a movie on your computer? Well, you're not using your keyboard or mouse, but you're using your monitor, audio setup and your chair. Writing a paper on your computer? You're not using your mouse, but you're still using your chair.

A good chair also lasts far, far longer than a mouse will. Chairs also don't go obsolete or get replaced by better technology, unlike monitors.

Having a bad chair can actually give you lasting health issues.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.
