Maximus VIII Hero boot fail!

So I did my first cold boot today of my recently built pc and the fans started spinning and everything lit up, however when I attempted to get into the bios nothing happened, not to sure what I should do any suggestions?

1. Check that the display cable is properly connected

2. There is a debug thing on the top right of your mobo that looks like an old calculator display. Check your manual to see if there is anything about it and look for error codes on it. It can tell you multiple things including if your CPU, ram, or gpu have problems.

Could you give a little more specifics? Does the screen light up at all? Does it display anything? How are you trying to get to the bios?

The display port cable is connected properly and yes my monitor does light up but after maybe 30 seconds It goes dark. I'm getting a q-code error message of d6 which means - No console output devices are found. As my mother board manual instructed I'm holding delete when attempting to get into the bios. There is also led light the is orange which indicates that there is an error with the boot device. any more suggestions? thanks.

You could try resetting the cmos, your mobo should have a button for that too near the display but I doubt it would help. Have you tried removing all storage devices? As well, if you have a gpu you could try using the integrated graphics on your CPU.

Ill try removing the storage and I've tried using the integrated graphics. What exactly does to cmos due, in my mobo manual it says press this button to clear the bios setup information it also says to only use it when the mother board hangs due to over clocking. anyways thanks for you help, ill give it a try!

Clearing CMOS basically resets all the settings to what the motherboard (should have) come with. It's just a good thing to try if for whatever reason some weird setting is turned on somehow.
