reapplying cpu cooler

so I am very very nervous, i need to twist my cpu cooler 90 degrees, it's pointed at the "roof" of the case lol. could i just remove and reapply without cleaning the thermal paste?

it was an AMD bracket so i had tot take it off, but i'm getting into the BIOS andere Windows. So i'll just look at my temps i guess
