Tweaking a gpu vs overclocking a gpu

15Evan15
Go to solution Solved by Patrick Bateman,

Is there a difference from tweaking a gpu like this http://www.pcworld.com/article/2026179/the-ultimate-guide-to-tweaking-your-gpus-most-arcane-settings.html and overclocking the gpu? Is it the same thing?

overclocking is increasing mem and core clock..

tweaking like in that guide is changing stuff in control panels

completely different

Yes. That guide is basically optimising some settings. Overclocking is increasing the card's clock speeds, making the card run faster.

not really to do with performance unless you start tweaking aa and stuff in the nvidia control panel

I'm using amd. Should I change stuff like resolution, shadows, texture in windows settings, game settings, or amd catalyst gpu settings?

So in a guide like this http://www.pcworld.com/article/2026179/the-ultimate-guide-to-tweaking-your-gpus-most-arcane-settings.html , I would do that all in game settings? It says to do it in catalyst.

never care for stupid guides like that

do it within game is my recommendation

Use Crimson not Catalyst, that guide is out dated. With Crimson you can change the settings for each game independently. Just go into the gaming section of the UI.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

You want to run Virtual Super Resolution, that's in the display portion of the UI. Then play around with the settings of each game to find what you like and what works.

The link sends me to a download for a auto detect drivers. I did that a it downloads catalyst. There is an option to choose what drivers I want but is confusing. What is virtual super resolution and ui?
