Today i went over to my friends house to install a Corsair H110i GTX on his ancient AMD X2 220 and when we turned it on it would boot about halfway into windows then turn off. We restarted it and booted int o BIOS and the CPU was rocketing up into the 90c range and he said it usually sits at about 30c on his hyper 212 evo. we took off the block and we noticed that when the stock backplate for amd is used there is lot of slack on the standoffs so we unplugged everything and only had the cooler going and in the meantime we put some washers between the motherboard and the back plate and reattached the block and the bios said the cpu was just in the 20s like normal. Do you think it was just because the slack in the coolers mounting.
