My wife just bought me a GTX 970 as a early christmas presents. She went to best buy and the salesman there appreantly convienced her to buy the Nvidia refence card. I love the way it looks but being a user of my computer and not one to just stare at it, would it be better for her to take it back and pick up the EVGA SSC gtx 970 for approx $40 less. I am comfortable with overclocking this card but by the looks of the blower fan I feel I won't get the same performance.

So my questions in simple is: EVGA GTX 970 SSC or Nvidia GTX 970 reference?

Wait, the SSC costs $40 less than the reference and the salesperson got her to buy reference? Go return the card, ASAP, ask for the salesperson, and demand that he get fired for lying to a customer.

Yea she paid $379 for the reference card and she said that he said something about since nvidia makes the chips it like buying a product completely made in house versus building just chip and shipping it out. She said the SSC version was only $329.

I´d just go to BB and exchange it... those guys that work there are most of the times not very skilled in those kind of eletronic parts. They´ll tell you everything to get their comission. But BB has easy exchange conditions... shouldn´t be a big deal at all.

That is not an argument, that is just a statement.

Anyhow, either the salesman wanted to make some extra money or hes an idiot. Either way, make your purchases somewhere else in the future.

I don't think they get commission, only their managers.
