set it on a stovetop, heatsink side down. the heat will eventually warm it up.

maybe try to gently apply heat with something like a blow dryer

The thermal paste is more concreate like than anything making it reallllyy hard to even twist a tiny fraction

use a blow dryer and gently wiggle the cpu till u can twist it off

i'll invert the heatsink (exposing the underside of the CPU) and wick lighter fluid

(or iso alcohol) between the IHS and HSF surfaces to soften the TIM material.

the longer the exposure to soften the paste, then easier it will separate.

 

now if someone used a metal paste/TIM (like indium), then heat is the only

resource to separate them.
