Thoughts on this server build

This is meant to be a personal server build. This will be my first ever server build and is new territory for me. Did a lot of looking around and this is the build I came up with. I spent a lot of time trying to get the right case, and what type of RAM. This is a personal server and will host things such as a TS and game servers. I looked into ECC RAM but I would pay the same price and get half the RAM. I picked out two sets of 4x4GB to hopefully take advantage of quad channel, or am I wrong on this assumption (I saw there were two central "banks" of RAM slots, one for each CPU, and planned on splitting the RAM in half) or  would I want 4x8GB RAM sticks which comes to pretty much the same price? Also, is 240GB enouge storage to do what I want, just hosting servers?

you don't need an SSD just grab a mechanical drive.

dont get that ssd. spend a little more. i bought those crappy ssd's. they have hard drive like preformance in large R/W enviroments. also it uses the worst TLC nand flash i have ever seen.

yeah i figured that might be brought up, I was unsure of them from looking at their SSDs during cyber monday. Any recommendations considering im really trying to stay under $1000 total?

I figured since I didnt need a lot of storage Id have a small, fast drive, instead of a slower, large drive with space ill never utilize.

 

eventually I might buy some large capacity HDDs for backups and family photos,ect.

Yeah but its cheaper to get an HDD and you don't really need the Speed of an SSD. just grab like a 500 GB HDD
