The original Half-Life, Half-Life 2+Episodes, Left 4 Dead 2, and Day of Defeat: Source I think is worth it, but I grew up playing those games, so I'm a bit biased.

If anything, I'd pick up the Source Multiplayer Pack, Left 4 Dead 2, and then Garry's Mod.

Why? Well;

  • The Source Multiplayer Pack comes with DoD:S, CS:S, and HL2:DM, these games have assets that Garry's Mod community servers use in the custom game modes like Prop Hunt and Trouble in Terrorist Town(really fun game modes I might add). The main one to get is CS:S, but it's cheaper to just get the Source Multiplayer Pack instead of just CS:S.
  • Left 4 Dead 2 contains all the singleplayer content from Left 4 Dead 1, so there's no real point buying the first Left 4 Dead. L4D2 is a great zombie game IMO and is a blast with co-op. The PvP is ok. Also the game has Steam Workshop support, so lots of skins and customization options plus TONS of fan made campaigns.
  • Garry's Mod is a sandbox game, tons of Workshop mods that can expand what you can do in the game. I have over 130 hours in this game and I have quite a few people on my friend's list with over 1,000 hours in the game from playing RPG game modes alone.
